Second and Third Stops – Gresham and Vashon Island

This morning we hit the road to Gresham, just outside of Portland, to see our cousin Rheanna and her husband Seth. They bought house earlier this year – a mid century modern style with wood paneling,  huge windows and lots of trees in both the large front and backyards. After a too brief stop to hear about their recent travels and plans for the outdoor spaces we were back on the road headed to Vashon Island.

We managed to skirt all of the Portland traffic and arrived at the Pt Defiance ferry terminal with enough time to get out of the car and stretch in the warm sunshine. After checking out the views, including the horse having a snack in its trailer, we drove onto the ferry for the quick 15 minute trip to Vashon, then the gorgeous forested drive to Aunt Barb and Uncle Steve’s place. It had been quite a few years since we were last on Vashon and it brought back so many wonderful memories of family reunions.

Barb and Steve have a quiet, peaceful spot with amazing views. As we sat outside we saw two eagles fly past and land in nearby tree. We went through the family update routine – at this point we were becoming experts at it! We also got lots of snuggles from Steve’s service dog, Maya. After dinner, I went for a walk and met the next-door neighbors goats who greeted me very noisily. The sunsets from their deck are just spectacular.
