I spent the first few days this week continuing to readjust to being back. I helped mom with gardening, changing lightbulbs, solving cellphone issues, etc. I haven’t really wanted to drive if I didn’t have to, so I walked to CVS and the grocery store one day, then to the post office in Sausalito another day. I saw lots of blackberry bushes and pretty flowers on my wanders. I also passed an adorable flyer on a telephone post for a local kid offering his pet sitting services- for $5/day per pet! In a free box I found a rock cookbook ‘The Dark Side of the Spoon’. It had some great puns and the recipes aren’t too bad either. After dinner I got to catch up with Kieran, hearing about what’s going on at work and his weekend plans with my dad’s boat. It’s so wonderful to think about the little boy who used to play in grandpa’s boat now gets to use it to go fishing with his friends. Dad would approve.

On Wednesday I needed to be near water so first went out to a trail by the water in Strawberry, then when I realized it wasn’t long enough, headed to Tennessee Valley Beach. That was exactly what I needed, a nice walk seeing the grass blowing in the wind and a place on the beach to watch and listen to the waves. (Though seeing a dead baby seal wasn’t so great) I’m dealing with feelings of guilt for not earning an income while struggling to find my way to what’s next for me. The more I explore, the more I want to see and experience. But I can feel my fear of what the long term future could bring scaring me away from trying new things. I don’t want that to happen, I don’t want to continue getting caught up in things that aren’t important to me. Sometimes that’s much easier said than done.

On Thursday morning I met my friend Michele at our walking spot on the canal trail. She’s out visiting from Texas, it was such a treat to spend time with her, especially in the place we have walked together for over 20 years (wow!). Later I got my haircut and caught up with my hairdresser, Vilda, who I love talking to. She always has a lot to say about what’s going on in the world and I learn so much from her. I got to spend the rest of the day with Emmy and Winston, going for a walk, taking trip to Trader Joe’s and just hanging out. We went to the Concord Market and Music as there was a Journey cover band, Evolution, playing. We got dinner and the most delicious strawberries there while we listened to the music. Also saw a group with gorgeous bikes. Overall a really great day.
