Kootenai Falls and Whitefish

I woke up in the middle of the night to lightning flashes and walked over to a more open part of the campground for a better view-we don’t get many lightning storms at home so it was totally worth the lost sleep to see the sky light up.  I heard rumblings of thunder on my morning walk by the lakeside and we got a bit of rain later in the morning.

On our way out we checked out the Boy Scout friendship poles- there were over 42,000 scouts here for the Jamboree in 1969!

Beautiful drive to Whitefish, we stopped at Kootenai falls for lunch and walked across the suspension bridge-forgot how much I love them. 😛

We are staying at an adorable small lodge-there are only 6 guest rooms – we have a lovely suite with a claw foot tub, fireplace and sitting area. It is so luxurious after camping for 4 nights! Dinner was delicious burgers and fries from MudMAN burgers, where we were treated to Montana hospitality when another patron bought Javi a burger patty-Javi was thrilled!

I’m excited to check out Glacier, but am not looking forward to dealing with the crowds. It has been so nice camping in places that have been quiet without a lot of people. Hoping we can find less popular hiking spots.
