I am really enjoying these Fridays where I get to do a bunch of random stuff. This Friday morning entailed doing my laundry and helping my mom organize some of her dresser drawers which led to lots of different stories and hilarity about the random things that she had held onto. We found a booklet on scarf tying from 1988 (loved the hairstyles on the models!) receipts from Ross from six years ago, a variety of outdated charging cords, recipes for homemade cleaning methods, and rosaries from a few different countries. 🙂 It’s always an adventure going through things with mom! Also find an unused baptismal candle that we figured was not from any of us kids since the box listed a fax number on it, making it well after our time!
Later in the afternoon I looked after my nephews after their second day of school. We walked to the local library, that brought back such memories of going for walks with my kids when they were in elementary school and the random kind of conversations that come up ranging from which Harry Potter book was our least favorite (we all agreed it was book number five because of Professor Umbridge) to a discussion of why people go to graduate school and are cats better than dogs (we couldn’t come to a consensus on that one). Then we headed out to the local park where I played tennis for the first time in at least 40 years! It went better than I expected and it was just so much fun to watch a giggly little boy running all over the tennis court. We were even given two brand new tennis balls by the from the dad at the court next to us when he saw the old ones that we were using. He was very sweet, and his daughter was quite the tennis player. It was so great to spend time with them, I miss that little boy energy.
