Almost There-Rehearsal Day

The big day has almost arrived! Kieran and Kourtney have been planning for their wedding for over a year. As is often the case, stress levels increased in the weeks leading up to the wedding and in particular the few days before when there were lots of last-minute errands and decisions to make. It didn’t help that the midweek rain extended to the end of the week, including rainstorms with lightning and thunder the night before set up!

I traveled up to Sheridan on Friday morning to help with the set up, which ended up getting delayed until early afternoon because of the thunderstorms the night before and rain that morning. We all gathered at 1 o’clock and got busy setting up tables and chairs and decorating the tables and other areas of the site. It was so much fun to be able to help out in such a practical way. It was a great way for everybody to spend time together outdoors, the weather had cleared up and was beautiful at that point and it got us all very excited about the wedding the next day.

I picked up pizza for the rehearsal dinner, which took a while since the nearest pizza place was in Wheatland, where there is apparently a huge and very popular pumpkin patch. Since the highway in and out of Wheatland is only one lane either way it was a slow drive part of each way there and back. They ran through the short ceremony a couple of times getting everybody comfortable with their roles and what was expected of them. There was lots of laughter and some silliness as everyone started to relax. The flower girl and ring bearers were adorable. After the rehearsal dinner I headed to my Airbnb to relax and get some sleep. There was still a lot of pumpkin patch traffic, which I was prepared for this time. The route to my Airbnb took me past the high school where it was very obvious a football game was taking place as there were cars everywhere and lots of people streaming into the football field. I always love seeing small towns like this where everyone gathers to support the sports teams. The Airbnb was an in-law unit attached to a house in the neighborhood. It was lovingly decorated, and a nice place to chill out. I was grateful I had it to myself tonight, as I needed some downtime. After the wedding my mom and one of my sisters and her dog would be staying with me.
