The short nights here definitely take getting used to. It really wasn’t completely dark until well after 11 PM last night and then the sky was already getting light before 3:30 AM. My body is so used to wanting to get up when it is light outside. It is really hard to let myself go back to sleep if I wake up early.
Today I helped with cleaning around the house and got better acquainted with the land. Pia has several apple trees and berry bushes and a large vegetable garden. She harvested a bunch of spinach and I spent a good amount of time separating out the leaves from the flowers, preparing it to be steamed.

I also got out for a walk in the neighborhood, Giorgia told me about a loop walk on the nearby road in a forested area. It was raining on and off all day and I managed to get out in between rain showers. I also got a closer look at the church next-door.

Giorgia made a delicious omelette with tomato and red bell pepper for lunch and Pia made salmon and new potatoes with an amazing white dill sauce for dinner. I am definitely eating well here! We had been distracted by the spinach harvesting and didn’t even end up eating dinner until 930 last night, it is definitely easy to lose track of time when it stays light so late at night.
