Spent the first part of the day doing what I love, hiking on Mount Tam with a friend. Julie and I had intended to hike a 6.5 mile segment of the ridge trail that neither of us had done before. We dropped off her car at the end of the trail then headed in my car to the other end. Unfortunately the road was closed until later in the morning so we went to plan B-taking a different trail that intersected the trail we wanted to hike on. It ended up extending our trip to over 11 miles and doubled the elevation gain, but it was worth it. Julie and I had a great time catching up. The weather was perfect for hiking, cool and sunny and the views were gorgeous (both of the ocean and the trees). We ended up doing a bit of scrambling over fallen trees and branches from last Sunday’s storm. I love the good tired feeling I get after a hike.
I spent the afternoon watching the Super Bowl with my mom. What an intense game! Unfortunately, the 49ers did not end up as the victors, though they played an excellent game.
