Third Day of Christmas

Rainy day today, so it was heavenly to come home from work and read in front of the fire for a while. I’m reading a book called Birnam Wood by Eleanor Catton, a New Zealand author who won the Booker prize for her second book, The Luminaries, which I read when I was in New Zealand last year. She was the youngest person and only second New Zealand author to win the Booker prize. Birnam Wood is a much more contemporary novel than The Luminaries and I am flying through it because it is such a captivating read.

  • Having a reliable car so I could take the trip
  • Finding an art vending machine and meeting the creator
  • Camping in the rain
  • Seeing gorgeous wildflowers
    * Hiking a slot canyon and having help getting up the steepest part
  • Volunteering at a VOCal project in Solano, and finally earning my Pulaski pin!
