Last Full Day 🥲

After morning chores and breakfast, Nina and I went down to the river to check on her sheepskins, which looked really good. Then we headed over to Max’s place and I got a tour of his amazing little studio home. He’s built it by himself all from salvaged wood and other items. The house is made from discarded pallets and sawn off tree bark a neighbor was getting rid of. He’s got a sink that someone else was tossing out and used pallets to make all kinds of little storage crates that hang on the walls. He used hay as insulation in between the outer and inner walls which should keep it habitable up to -30°C. It’s a fantastic little spot with everything he needs. He’s got a large solar panel to run the lights and charge his phone and tools, a nice little area out the front to sit and another for cooking. He made a little table when his mom arrived so they could play cards and he’s going to modify it so that it can swing around to either use as a side table or to eat on when you’re sitting on the bench.

It is my last full day on the farm so I spent time with the goats as they’ve been my primary focus while I’ve been here. I will miss their sweet little faces and warm nuzzles, but not when they shove past me to get to their grain or pee when I’m standing behind them!

I made some roasted butternut squash to go with the soup we had ready for dinner. Noé showed me the game he created last year called Success. It has two beautiful playing boards and the playing pieces are made from a variety of different woods. He also wrote a Sci-Fi book that will be published in December. Incredible!
