Journeys In the City

Recipe for a fantastic Monday – take a dog for a sunrise walk on the beach, buy coffee from a roaster based in his garage in the Haight Ashbury neighborhood, take a 12 mile walk through Golden Gate Park to Ocean Beach and back with a friend and a happy dog, marvel at the beautiful zinnias outside the Conservatory of Flowers, take a nap snuggled up with two sweet doggies, enjoy a delicious dinner with your sister, go for a long walk on a foggy beach and watch a happy couple get their wedding photos taken.

I was struck by this post from the blog I’ve been following, Alia’s Voyage. Alia is 87 years old and traveling around the US in her van by herself. She is an inspiration in so many ways.

‘Recently a friend asked me, “What keeps the sparkle in your eyes?” I thought a little and answered, “A while ago I gave up anger–I could not afford it”, (my body, my mind). “Then I gave up fear for the same reason–I could not afford it.” I was mor peaceful. Sadness is a part of life. Grieving is good. I grieve; then I let go.’
