Ready For A Road Trip

OK so I have been very lax about updating my blog. I’m on a road trip with my sister Lori to visit relatives in Oregon and Washington and haven’t had the downtime I usually get in the evenings to post. I started my journey on Tuesday when I met Jody for lunch to catch up on what was going on at the CCCBA. It was great to hear about the fantastic work but she’s been doing. Now that she has the first year under her belt hopefully she’ll get a little breathing room. The first year as Executive Director of an organization is a whirlwind of learning about the organization and the people in the community and she’s done a fantastic job.

My next stop on Tuesday was to Lori‘s house to get her and pick up the rental car for our trip. The temperature rose 20° with each of my stops – it was 65 when I left Mill Valley, 85 in Concord and very close to 105 in Citrus Heights. Thank goodness for air conditioning! Then it was off to Kieran‘s place to spend some time with him and Kourtney and their menagerie – it was almost as hot there as in Citrus Heights. It was wonderful to see all of the work that Kieran has done on his front yard. He sent me lots of photos but there’s nothing like seeing it in person. I spent some time throwing the ball to Bentley – he greeted me at the door with a toy in his mouth, ready to play. I think he was disappointed that I couldn’t stay out in the heat for very long, but at least we got to play for a little bit. Whiskey the cat was happy to be stroked, and of course Fireball hid under the covers – she’s such a shy kitty. After hearing about his plans for remodeling the bathroom it was time for me to head back to Lori’s so I could get ready for our trip in the morning.
