This morning my brother-in-law, Tobin, and niece Alea stopped by for a couple of hours. They had driven a friend from Sacramento to San Rafael to pick up a car and stopped by to see mom and I. It was a real treat to see Alea especially since she lives in Southern California where she works as a nurse in the NICU at Children’s Hospital LA. She showed me some pictures of the teeny, tiny, micro diapers and blood pressure cuffs that they use on her unit – I can’t imagine what it’s like to work with such tiny, fragile babies.
Later in the afternoon mom and I went to the Sequoia theater in downtown Mill Valley and saw a wonderful movie called Past Lives. It’s about two best friends who grew up together in South Korea until one of them moved away at age 12. They reconnected briefly in their 20s and then again in their mid-30s. It was a very moving film, I was so impressed with Grace Lee’s performance. The conversations between her and her husband, and between her and her friend were so open and honest and raw. I highly recommend it, but make sure to bring tissues.
I got out for a walk around the ‘horseshoe’ and saw a sweet deer munching on foliage.
