I spent the last two days in San Francisco for State Bar meetings. Since I’d spent so much time driving earlier in the week and am still adjusting to being around so many people and cars I took the ferry from Sausalito instead of driving into the city. It was such a treat to sit outside watching both the view and the tourists marveling over seeing the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz and downtown San Francisco. On the return trip I chatted with a young man who was a new flight attendant excited about spending 6 months in San Francisco-he had a list a mile long of places he wanted to explore-it was so cute to see and hear his enthusiasm. He was disappointed at how ‘cloudy’ it was by the Golden Gate Bridge. I told him it was fog and would likely be foggy much of the time until September. Being from Florida he wasn’t familiar with microclimates, or cold summers!
On Friday night mom and I alternated between watching the Giants game and recorded Jeopardy episodes. She kept falling asleep because the Giants weren’t doing well, though by the 8th inning she was wide awake, what a crazy end to the game!
Saturday was another meeting in SF, this time I had to take the bus in because the ferry didn’t run till later, though I was able to take the ferry back and enjoyed an hour’s walk back to my car checking out the sailboats and houseboats in Sausalito along the way.
