I woke up really early on Tuesday morning and looked out the window to see a beautiful moon hanging in the sky. What a wonderful start to the day.
I got coffee organized for an all day meeting at one of the houses, then babysat for Abigail. It is so much fun to spend time with an easy-going, happy baby.
It was another dramatic sky stormy evening afternoon, I seem to be spending more and more time staring at the clouds, listening to the thunder and watching for lightning. Lisa and I had plans to go to the rodeo and were hoping the skies would clear in time.
We were in luck, the storm moved away from Cody, so we could enjoy a fun evening at the ‘Rodeo Capital of the World’. Lisa had never been to a rodeo before, so it was especially fun to see her reactions to everything. The evening started out with a prayer asking God to keep everyone safe, then a cowboy rode around the stadium on a horse holding a large American flag, while a video was shown of a poem called Why We Stand before everyone sang the national anthem. So very ‘Welcome to Wyoming’! We saw bareback riders, junior steer riders, tie-down roping, the kids calf race (those poor calves!), barrel racing which is always my favorite, and the evening ended with the bucking broncos. Of course there was also the rodeo clown, I think he needs to invest in some new jokes though, Nancy Pelosi is old news by now (Wyoming isn’t known to be a heavily democratic state, lol)
On Wednesday, Lisa and I were up early as I dropped her off at the airport for a 7 AM flight, luckily the airport is literally a two minute drive away and parking in front us a breeze. I stopped at the Yoder’s donuts food truck that was parked in front of a nearby mall and tried their famous sourdough donuts, which I can attest are delicious. The butterflies are coming out in full force now and I saw a beautiful one this morning.
After getting our work done for the morning we had a potluck lunch with the different people who help out at the retreat center, there was delicious food and great conversation. I realized afterwards that none of us were Wyoming natives, we had representation from Texas, California, Tennessee, North Carolina, Utah & even Australia! Once again, storm clouds moved in, and I spent the rest of the afternoon reading and journaling, while listening to thunder rolling through the valley.
