Lulled to sleep last night by the amazingly loud sounds of various forest bugs. I woke up early to see dawn breaking at the lake so rushed out and jogged the 1/2 mile to the shore. Gorgeous!!! I couldn’t stop taking pictures.
Later we headed out to the store for supplies and met someone who was originally from Antioch, what a small world. We explored around the lake, then walked to the beach for lunch. Lovely swim and time to read, checked out the cute cabins with porch swings and lake views that are available to rent. I started a very interesting book on proprioceptive writing, as I want to go deeper in exploring how distant experiences from the past and present affect me, my automatic responses, etc. I’m looking forward to trying it out.
After dinner, Christina made delicious tacos, we checked out the swim area. What a perfect place for families to enjoy the lake-roped off swimming area on one side of a sandy spit and larger area for paddle boards, kayaks and boats on the other side. I wish we lived closer, this is a place I would definitely come back and explore more. We finally had a campfire tonight, even though it is still really warm. I was in a T-shirt and shorts until bedtime, though we may get thunderstorms tonight-I hope so! There is no camping dessert better than s’mores, though I almost OD’ed on them when my kids were little, they all wanted to make me at least one every night-that’s a lot of s’mores! Guess I should have thought of that before I had 3 kids. 😝
The kids in the site next to us are singing various camp songs – rickadando, bringing home a baby bumble bee, down by the bay….
Tomorrow we head to Whitefish and Glacier National Park!
