Outdoor Time

This morning I woke up early and watched the day dawn. It was much better weather than the last two days I’ve been here so after breakfast I hiked the 3 mile loop up the ridge trail. I could see snowy mountains in the distance, absolutely stunning. Later I did my ‘work’ for the day- doing laundry in preparation for an upcoming retreat group. It only took 1 1/2 hours and I listened to a podcast while I worked, not a bad way to earn my keep!

After lunch Erin and I headed to the Hayden Arch Bridge and did a 5 mile walk next to the Shoshone River, the water was an incredible shade of green. As we walked we went further into the towering walls of the canyon, the sound of the river echoed off the narrow canyon walls and made it seem like water was rushing down the walls. What a fantastic hike. The trail dead ended at the Buffalo Bill Reservoir. We couldn’t access the visitor center though, there was a locked gate and because of government rules we couldn’t enter that way, so we decided to check out the visitor center on another day when we could drive there. When we were about 10 minutes from the car the sky opened up and poured down on us, it smelled amazing and was refreshing after a warm walk.

Later, after I zoomed with my mom and Erin did yoga, we played Quiddler, a card game where each player makes words from the letter cards in their hands. I brought it along as a game I could play by myself if others weren’t interested, and I discovered that it’s Erin’s favorite game! So we’ve been playing nightly. It’s a fun, low stress way to engage your brain.
