Saturday was a challenging day as we went to a very close family friends funeral mass. While it was wonderful to be with a group of people who loved him very much, it’s always so hard to say goodbye. My memory of him was of a quiet, smiley dad who was always helping others. Listening to the eulogies I realized there was so much I did not know about him, and saw what an amazing person he was given the childhood he experienced as a holocaust survivor and then as a teenager on his own in a new country. It showed me even more how lucky I am to have the childhood I had.
