I’ve had a couple of fun social days where I’ve been enjoying the great weather and gone out to dinner, which has been very nice. Monday was my last time looking after Javi for awhile. Since we had a longer time together, I took him first to the park with the Chuck-it and he raced after tennis balls for an hour straight without a break. He’s normally a very happy, easy-going dog, but come anywhere near his tennis ball and he transforms into Cujo!
Then, as a treat, we drove down to Ocean Beach and had another long ball throwing session on the sand. At one point I had to hide the ball from him because I could tell he was really tired, but he was like an addict wanting to chase after the ball. His eyes were glazed and shining like crazy. It was a great day at the beach, lots of sand pipers tessellating around. It’s such a magical movement to see. We also saw horses and kite surfers. Later, when Chrissy got home she took me out to dinner at a French restaurant nearby. It was absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced. We both enjoyed a cocktail called Fir, which was Chardonnay with crème de cassis, the perfect refreshment for a warm evening. I had two of my favorite French foods – soupe à l’oignon and escargot. We couldn’t choose just one thing for dessert, so got both the chocolate fondant and the apple tatin. Swoon! On the way back, two driverless cars passed by, it was so bizarre to see a car moving around with no one in it. I guess they are very common in her neighborhood in the evenings.
On Tuesday, I got to spend time with Emmy and Winston, catching up on her adventures in Scottsdale and the upcoming bachelorette party for a college roommate in San Diego. She’s been so busy with work and these various trips she hasn’t had much time to start planning her own wedding. Whatever she decides to do, I know it will be wonderful. We got Naan N Curry for dinner, I haven’t had their food for quite a while, and it was so yummy! The weather was lovely and warm, so we got to sit outside while Winston sniffed around hoping that we would drop some food (to his disappointment we didn’t)
I spent most of Wednesday working on my JNE investigations. Mom and I got her tomato plants in and I was able to hang my laundry out to dry on since it was warm. The debris bin got picked up, and the driver was very sweet, helping to cover the load since it was fuller than it should have been. We’ve only got one free item sitting out front waiting to be picked up.
