LA Time

It was an early morning today, up at 3:30 so that I could get to the airport by five for my flight to Burbank. I did not need to hurry  though, as the lines were very short and there were only 37 people on the flight, so we all got a set of three seats to ourselves! It was a beautiful morning and we had a gorgeous view at the bay as we took off while the sun rose and followed the coast most of the way down. I forget how rugged the California coastline is, it was mesmerizing looking at the mountains.

I was very happy to see that there was a Philz coffee just a couple of blocks from the hotel, so I headed over there before going to my meeting. It was good to have that time to relax and read since the rest of the day kept my brain full as I observed and learned about evaluating judicial candidates. I’m even more impressed with the work of the Commission on Judicial Nominees Evaluation, now that I’ve seen it in action. I just hope I can live up to the high standards set by previous commissioners.

After I checked into the hotel I took a short walk around the neighborhood, there are some great murals on the building. I really liked the one that said ‘You are a goddess living in a city of angels’ which was on a building on Hope street-very appropriate. Next time I’m here I’m going to check out The Grammy Museum.
