Socializing and Colorful Art

Woke up early Wednesday morning, so did my journaling by candlelight while it was still dark out. I just love being up early and having that quiet time to myself. I don’t know why it’s such it’s still such a big deal for me, it’s not like I have a kids at home that need my attention (though I guess right now Winston falls into that category). It was a cold morning, perfect for a bit of an uphill walk. From where I was, I couldn’t see the traffic, but I could definitely hear it, which makes for a much less relaxing walk.

Later I spent time learning more about walkable communities and who gets involved in the planning of those, the Bay Area actually has some of the more walkable cities in the country, mainly because of the density of population and services that are available nearby. It will be really interesting to see how changes made during the pandemic to community socializing areas (the fact that a lot more people were out in parks and walking in their neighborhoods and wanting outdoor dining options) will stay in the longer-term.

I got together with a friend from the CCCBA board, it was so good catching up on what he’s up to and how his growing family is doing. Then I went to the Bedford Gallery at the Lesher Center to see the current exhibit all about color. It was incredible! There was a lot to check out visually, but also a great auditory part of the exhibit. I loved the artist’s use of color and positive messages and making people think about the impact of color on their moods. There was even a lovely meditation spot where you could watch colors changing while listening to music. I found it very hypnotic and relaxing.

And now that it is finally public knowledge, I can say how excited I am that my daughter Emmy got engaged during her trip to New Zealand to her longtime boyfriend, now fiancé, Eddie! We all knew this would happen at some point, and are just so happy for the both of them, and very excited about a wedding possibly next year.

On Thursday I woke up early so I went for my walk around the neighborhood as the sky was turning beautiful shades of pink and orange. It was a social day, I met two friends for lunch and heard all about the busy lives they are leading at work and their volunteer efforts. Then later I got together with another friend in Martinez for a walk and catch up. Finally I had a nice long phone call with my son, he filled me in on all the things he’s doing at work, and how things are going with his new truck.
