I woke up early and went sat out on the couch, and listen to owls calling back-and-forth. Took it easy this morning, I am at a point in my audiobook that I just want to keep listening to it, so I sat and listened while looking at the dramatic morning skies. Once I had a little more energy I headed out for a walk and was rewarded with more lovely views, the sky seems to go on forever from here!
This afternoon I drove part of the Mirror Lake Byway into the Uintas Mountains and Wasatch National Forest. This is absolutely breathtaking scenery-even from the road you are treated to sights of numerous tree-lined lakes and imposing mountains, not to mention the cattle grazing at the side of the road (and crossing it at whim.)
The weather changes quickly at this altitude, when I first arrived it was a sunny afternoon, but the rain clouds soon set in and after my walk around Mirror Lake, I drove in a bit of a downpour. On my return to the summit at Bald Mountain I was lucky enough to see a rainbow!
At the start of the byway, the trees were showing off their fall colors. This is one of my favorite things about fall, seeing all the gorgeous color.
