I spent a few days house and dog sitting for a friend of my mom’s in San Rafael. Her dog Rosco is adorable! We got out for walks around the neighborhood and he liked to snuggle in my lap. I got to stay in the sweet little Casita that is attached to the garage. It was the perfect little studio to enjoy my time there. Many of the houses in the neighborhood are in a Spanish style, most are probably almost 100 years old with well established trees. It’s a hilly neighborhood which rewards you with beautiful views. In one area I walked in closer to downtown, there were a couple of huge topiaries, one in the shape of a buffalo and the other in the shape of an elephant, both stretching over the sidewalk. So creative!
On Saturday night I went to the Golden Girls Live Christmas show at the Curran Theater with a couple of my sisters and a friend. It was such a blast! The last time we went was before Covid, and I had forgotten how much fun those shows are. Almost everybody in the audience was dressed up, be it in holiday attire or very sparkly clothes (many wore sparkly holiday attire!), and even some of the drinks had glitter in them! During every scene change, a piano player lead the audience in singing Christmas carols. It was so much fun. And the biggest treat was at the end when the woman who wrote and performed the Golden Girls theme song came up on stage and performed, first singing the song on her own and then again with audience participation. It was fantastic! What an awesome night. Well the not so awesome parts were the Lyft rides that we got to and from San Francisco. Both of them were horrible drivers who were not paying attention where they were going, one had horrible body odor (and wore a ton of cologne in an attempt to cover it up), and the other would speed up and slow down randomly on the freeway. I have never had experiences like that before, and to have two in one night was very disconcerting. I’m hoping that it was just an anomaly.
After I got settled back home this afternoon I spent some time creating some new collage bases while my mom and sister watched the 49ers game. They had the Brock Purdy candle going, and it must have worked because the Niners won quite handily!
