An Engagement Party ❤️

Today was Kieran and Kourtney’s engagement party! Mom and I headed over just after 10, and we’re very happy not to hit much traffic. A couple of weeks ago the Marysville hotel caught fire since then all traffic through the middle of downtown, where the hotel is located, has been rerouted which caused a slow down getting into town, but otherwise it wasn’t too bad. It was much hotter in Marysville than in Mill Valley so we were in our lightest summer clothes.

When we arrived Kieran was busy at the barbecue making burgers and dogs and Kourtney was dealing with the rest of the food inside. This was the first time that I had been able to meet anybody from her side of the family, and it was great to finally meet her mom, sister, many cousins, nieces and nephews, and her dad. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, hopefully we will get to hang out more before the wedding.

Even though the temps were in the mid to high 90s, it wasn’t too bad sitting outside. They have a couple of large shady trees in the backyard and there was a breeze blowing so that helped. Their dog, Bentley, was running all over the place dropping tennis balls at peoples feet to play catch. We all had a lovely relaxed afternoon sitting around talking and eating. I also got to meet Kieran’s good friend Nate and his wife Michelle, a couple that he and Kourtney spend a lot of time with. They have about 15 acres up in the mountains with goats, chickens and dogs, and are living a life that Kieran and Kourtney would very much like. I am not surprised that Kieran and Nate get along so well, they are like two peas in a pod.

Kieran recently got promoted and is now working out in the field, so he has a service truck to assist clients at their locations instead of working on equipment that comes into the shop. He’s excited, especially since it means he can work at different locations, will get some extra hours in and will get paid for any travel time. He had fun showing off the truck to everyone.

The traffic back home was the lightest I had ever seen from Marysville. As we were going across highway 37 the sun was setting, and we had an absolutely gorgeous view of Mt Tam and the wetlands. It was a good end to a lovely day celebrating our soon to be new family!
