This week marks the start of my role as Interim Executive Director at the Village Community Resource Center. This is a return to my community-based nonprofit roots, and three days in I am very happy to have made the move.
I am so impressed with the vibrant, positive, creative group of employees who are the backbone of the organization. They are all so dedicated to the community, it is both impressive and inspiring. I am blown away by the variety and complexity of work that they do. My brain is bursting with all kinds of information about the After School Academy, wellness programs, food distribution, grants and more. I’m grateful that the former ED will be available to train and advise me over the next several weeks, there is a lot to learn!
Because the job is in Brentwood, which is over an hours drive from moms, I am going to be working remotely part of the time and then spending a couple of nights each week with my daughter Emmy in Concord. That way, I’ll get to spend some time with her and Winston and I’ll only have a half hour commute on those days.
We had dramatic skies all day on Tuesday, in fact, we even got rain early Tuesday morning. It was really strange to see my car covered in raindrops.
I’m enjoying my morning walks through Emmy’s neighborhood, lots of trees bearing fruit, and fun sculptures in front yards.
