Saturday With Winston

Winston and I had a pretty relaxing Saturday, getting out for walks early in the day and then later in the day when it was cooler. I got to spend time with Vilda, my hairdresser, who not only does a fantastic job on my hair, but is a wonderful person to spend time with. She just got back from a trip to Turkey to help her aunt move, at the end of her trip she spent a couple of amazing days in Bulgaria. It was so good to hear that she treated herself to spa treatments and good food while she was there. She does so much for her clients and it’s so important for her to nourish herself.

I stopped at the library to pick up a book I had on hold and saw that they were advertising for the summer reading program. My kids used to absolutely love getting their sheets, marking off each time they finished a book and turning them in at the end to get prizes and a free book. When I mentioned it to Annemarie during our video chat, she remembered a book that she got one year through the program, Be More Chill, was eventually turned into a musical.

I haven’t watched any TV since I’ve been at Emmy‘s place, but saw that the last half of the third season of Bridgerton was on Netflix so I started watching that. So far it’s a bit more interesting than the first half of that season, thank goodness. It’s really good to see a plus size character not only being featured in a main role but also being seen as sexual and desired by people who aren’t plus sized. You almost never see people who aren’t thin and beautiful being shown as sexual beings. In fact, Bridgerton has been just as guilty of that as other shows, so I’m very happy to see that Shonda Rhimes is branching out even more to show the diversity and complexity of plus size characters.
