Delights from the last two days:
- Seeing a treehouse in construction
- A squirrel taunting Winston
- Finding a Swedish version of Richard Scarry’s Best Word Book Ever in a free little library- that was a favorite book in my house growing up and with my own children.
- Seeing a container full of snacks for stray cats with a plea for people to give them homes
- Winston playing hide and seek under my bed
- Being able to give blood for the first time in three years. The staff were really friendly and I had no problems with my iron levels (I have often failed that test in the past)
- Buying yummy berries and other fruit at the farmers market while listening to good music with a friend.
- Reconnecting with a former grad school cohort buddy
- Quiet music and a good book to read when I needed comfort
- A quote that reminded me of an important truth: ‘A very good career choice would be to gravitate toward those activities and to embrace those desires that harmonize with your core intentions, which are freedom and growth—and joy. Make a “career” of living a happy life rather than trying to find work that will produce enough income that you can do things with your money that will then make you happy. When feeling happy is of paramount importance to you—and what you do “for a living” makes you happy—you have found the best of all combinations.’
