Accounting For My Time

What I’ve done during my time at Michelle‘s:

  • Read six books 
  • Listened to two audiobooks 
  • Done two JNE interviews 
  • Written one JNE report and edited a second one 
  • Had numerous discussions about a candidate 
  • Had job two interviews and got one call back for a second interview 
  • Written 9 gap year entries
  • Written 8 blog posts
  • Applied for 3 jobs
  • Explored the area around Placerville 
  • Gone on three hikes 
  • Visited 10 free little libraries 
  • Picked up three new books from free little libraries 
  • Seen a dozen quilt paintings on the local quilt trail
  • Wine tasted at three wineries 
  • Listened to live music twice 
  • Walked in the neighborhood every day
  • Watched a half season of Bridgerton 
  • Watched three movies – Boyz N the Hood, Saltburn, and American Symphony, all very intense in their own ways 
  • Eaten most meals outside 
  • Done yoga before bed two or three times, not enough 
  • Picked up mail from the postbox twice 
  • Hiked to two waterfalls and drove past one
  • Watched the sunrise every morning except one
  • Given the dogs an average of three treats a day
  • Sat outside watching the stars four times
  • Meditated once
  • Took naps twice
  • Worked on my collaging one and a half times – the half time was affixing collage art to my journal cover 
  • Did laundry once
  • Wore the same workout clothes every day, some days when I wasn’t going anywhere or appearing on Zoom I stayed in them all day long
  • Took five showers
  • Tried out three different dinners from Michelle and Tim’s freezer
  • Emptied the garbage and recycling twice
  • Ran the dishwasher three times
  • Used the coffee maker 20+ times
  • Took the dogs on walks up the driveway and beyond eight times
  • Comforted Amicus when he was scared and shaking after a loud noise once
  • Watched bats in the yard at dusk five times
  • Saw dozens of deer, or maybe the same four or five, in the yard
  • Waved to a half a dozen people driving by on my neighborhood walks, never passing another soul who was walking
  • Drove up and down Raccoon and Hanks Exchange roads seven times
  • Went grocery shopping three times
  • Fell and scraped my leg once
  • Enjoyed beautiful drives on tree lined roads every time I’ve been out
  • Became annoyed by my squeaking car every time I’ve driven
  • Had lunch in a park once
  • Filled my car with gas one time
  • Been barked at by dogs as I walked past half a dozen times
  • Felt my heart soar when seeing the beauty of this place multiple times every day
  • Been grateful for the peace and quiet every day
  • Given scratches and love to the dogs several times each day 
  • Petted the kitties at least twice a day
  • Had one of the cats jump on my lap three times 
  • Got thrown off a zoom call because of Internet issues five times
  • Texted Mom to check in four times
  • Replied to her check in six times 
  • Number of her check in texts that referenced the Giants – two
  • Figured out 11 Wordle puzzles – I forgot about it one morning
  • Listened to approximately 20 podcast episodes, two of them interviews with John Green, such an interesting and nice guy
  • Wrote 12 journal entries
  • Wrote 68 gratitudes in my gratitude journal 
  • Wrote 36 gratitudes in my gratitude app
  • Added four photos and quotes to the quote page on my website
  • Watered the garden and veggies three times
  • Sent two texts to Michelle and Tim about the dogs
  • Logged 134k+ steps with over 165 floors climbed, I likely climbed many more floors, but I am too slow for them to count sometimes
  • Drove an unknown number of miles
  • Used two fans to cool down the dogs and myself 
  • Used four different coffee cups
  • Worried I wasn’t doing enough a dozen times
  • Went through two pens doing my writing
  • Perused 4 streaming services one night to find nothing I wanted to watch
  • Ate 3 bags of microwave popcorn 
  • Purchased two bottles of wine and drank one
  • Made and ate two bowls of Honeynut Cheerios sautéed in butter, a childhood favorite treat
  • Took over 300 photos
  • Texted with 19 individuals or groups
  • Billed one hour of work
  • Checked my email far too often
  • Felt lonely six times, wishing I could share this beautiful place with others.
