Placerville Saturday

On Saturday afternoon, I went to Rucksack Winery, mainly because I liked the name. Unfortunately, I didn’t like most of their wine.  At least it was a lovely place to relax, they had a quilt square on the side of the barn as well as a free little library with some really good books, I ended up picking up a novel by Kristin Hannah that I have not read yet. There was a couple there with 2 year-old twins who were roaming around the picnic area, then made a break for it out into the vineyards. It was so sweet to see those little heads bobbing up and down as dad chased after them. He managed to round them up, then 10 minutes later they did the same thing all over again and it was mom‘s turn to go after them. I am sure all four of them will sleep well tonight!

I decided to head back to Lava Cap Winery to enjoy their live music again. On the way I stopped at a few other places that were on the quilt trail, I think I’ve managed to hit most of them at this point. I’m impressed by the diversity of the different squares.

The music at Lava Cap was fine but the singing voices were terrible, almost worse than mine (I didn’t think that was possible!). But I enjoyed the tunes – Beach Boys, Beatles, Ray Charles and other 60s pop and soul music. They had a different food truck this time, with an even better name, Betty’s Balls! I chatted with the woman sitting next to me, a local who gave me suggestions of other places to visit the next time I’m in the area.  I definitely need to make an effort to get out to live music more often, I forgot how much I loved it.
